This is as far as I got before I got a new error, the above got rid of my seculaunch error though. Step 9: Attempt to load GTAIV once more, through Social club Play button. Step 8: Check Add/Remove programs to see that the new 2005 C++ was installed. Step 7: Run this installer, complete the installation. People using a disk it would be to right click on your DVD/CD drive in My computer, click explore, and find the folder named "Redistributable"
(In my case its Program files > Steam > Steamapps >Common > Grand theft auto iv > installers. Step 5: Navigate to the GTAIV main folder, and locate the installers folder. Step 4: Uninstall any Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable items listed in Add/Remove programs. Apparently this game runs on 32-bit? Im not completely sure, but 32-bit installer comes in the downloaded package once GTAIV is installed. Step 3: Locate Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable, more importantly, one's that say something with 圆4 on end. Step 2: Navigate to Control panel > Add/Remove Programs. Step 1: Install GTAIV and get the error stated above. So if you're getting the error "Seculauncher: Failed to start application, this may help you.
However, I had no success, because the Windows 7 install wouldn't let me install the OS on my primary drive, my partitioned drive(both have about 500gb, so size isn't a problem), or ANY of the others! And yes, I did all the necessary things to boot from disk, etc.GTAIV Was working fine on my 32-Bit XP harddrive, but once I tryed 64-Bit, all hell broke loose. Because I was having this problem, I have attempted to install Windows 7, in hopes of fixing this problem. My computer is brand new: only about 3 weeks old, and everything else works fine(for Windows 8). Since then, it has not worked, and I am very disappointed, because GTA IV is my favorite game. Then, I got to the loading screens, and I started getting the error again. I attempted to play it by running the "LaunchGTAIV.exe" file(as Administrator), and it worked for about a day. GTA IV worked fine on Windows 8 until about a week ago, when I tried to play it, and I got the error. Unfortunately, I am also having this problem.
